Class of Business training
Class of Business training refers to generic knowledge relevant to a particular product market and business sector. The competency requirements as set out in the FAIS Act (BN 194 of 2017) requires of financial services providers, key Individuals and representatives to complete class of business training. Class of Business training, as of 1 August 2018, becomes a requirement.
Who should do class of business?
As stated in the Revised Fit and Proper Requirement, representatives who:
- are still under supervision as of 1 April 2018. The same representatives are required to complete class of business training within 12 months starting from 1 August 2018;
- were appointed into new product categories, even if appointed before 1 April 2018. They will be required to complete class of business training in respect of those products; and
- were appointed before 1 April 2018 are exempted from class of business training, but only in respect of products for which they were authorised before 1 April 2018.
